So how does it feel to be the first Knox Wake Featured Rider?
Basically it is an indescribable feeling. It is cool. I hope I answered everything
cool/good/rad enough for the featured rider.

So how did you get the nickname Chainsaw?
When I was young my uncle told me time and time again to quit pulling on the
chainsaw because I continuously tried to start it. Well ever since he has just called me
chainsaw. Not many people know but I still hear from time to time. My other nicknames
are "Mumbles" or "Feces" from Gene ( the janitor at FMS) because he couldnt
pronounce my name. My friends all heard him call me that and it kinda stuck with me.

So you have been riding for about 7 yrs huh...What ultimately got you into
wakeboarding?
I got on a snowboard for the first time when I was in the 4th grade. I didn’t really
know much about wakeboarding when one day my brother and my dad came home
from jumbo sports with a 141 obrien buzz (pretty sure..you know how my memory is)
My grandpa gave my dad a 17ft galaxy with a 135 envinrude on the back. Wasn’t long
me and my brother had convinced pops to buy a real boat, a Tig’e.

The Obrien Buzz huh...So tell me more about it?
The obrien buzz was the first board I rode. It wasn’t until the summer before 8th
grade my friend Jeff Jolly let me ride his LQF Squirt it was like a 123 or something. It
had a good ole pair of double up bindings and was the first board with boots I ever
saw. His mom gave us a pull one day and from that summer on wakeboarding became
my hobby in the summer.

So tell me a little about the group you ride with.
I cant say that there is a specific group of ppl I ride with. I will take a tow from anyone.
I originally started out with Jeff Jolly behind his dads mastercraft. His dad was real into
the sport and always kept the boat weighted real nice. He pushed pretty hard. Until
Jeff and I got in trouble I rode with him till high school. My buddy Andrew Kreminski
lives next to Fort Loudon Marina, where my dad keeps our boat, with an X-45 docked
behind his house it was convenient to ride with him, Rex Dockery, Ryan Kizer, and a lot
of other friends. Now a days I ride with Chris Moon, Ryan Jones, Jackson Arms, Matt
Bishop, Tom G., Chase Chromer and whoever else is out there.

Why do you ride up on Fort Loudon/ Tellico?
I really appreciate the clean water in Fort Loudon/Tellico. J/K!! Our boat, the notorious
Tig’e, is kept in dry storage at Fort Loudon Marina. There are four or five friends with
boats: Ryan Kizer, Robert Butterini, Jimmy Wilson, and Andrew Kreminski that keep
their boats right around the marina. That’s why I ride where I ride you ever heard of
ski cove….no that’s because it’s the most secret cove ever.

So tell me a little about your famous Tig'e! Rumor has it you have been stuck out in
the middle of the lake multiple times with no gas! How do you get back in and have
you ever thought about putting gas into the thing before you go out to ride!
The Tig’e is a boat none the less and a wakeboard boat. It doesn’t have the good ole
ballast system like most wakeboarding boats ( because it has a super improved hull
design for maximum wake potential….it’s pretty much like 10 ft high) however uses the
taps system. I cant complain I like the boat. There are some consumer tips I have for
Tig’e manufacturing but I am sure all boat manufacturers could use some
improvements.

I need to clear this whole mess up about gas and not making it in etc. So Chris, Paul,
and I went out for a nice evening session on Ft Loudon/Tellico. Chris and I took a
couple sets and decided to cruise down to prater flats to look for a slider Chris swore
was there. I asked him strait up “Chris, you think this is enough gas to get there and
back?” Chris said “oh yea strait up plenty dawg”. Yea well as you can imagine we ran
out of gas. Had a friend bring us a gallon if that. Started back down to the marina and
got within sight of the dam before once again running out of gas. Keep in mind it is
probably 9 on a week night. Well after some critical thinking I concluded that the
Butterinis lived the closest to where we had conveniently ran out of gas. Mr. Butterini
who asked to have his name kept anonymous was kind enough to bring us enough
gas to make it back to the marina. Moral to the story don’t rely on Chris Moon or your
Tig’e’s gas gauge. Of course I put gas in the boat but you know how that goes…ppl
think it runs off thanks!!

So are you planning on retiring your Collective Development bindings this year?
The collective developments will no longer be rocked. I was fortunate enough to ride
them for a solid 5 seasons at least and never had any problems. This past year they
succumbed to dry rotting.

I have always wanted to know if your 2' binding laciest had ever effected your
performance while you rode?
No my style is never affected. Only by the driver.

So I know your first contest was two years ago at the Board Bonanza in Nashville.
How did you ride and with all the local contest this year do you plan on competing
any?
First off that was my first contest and it was 2 yrs ago. Then I proceeded to compete in
the INT league in Turkey Creek. I rode in the INT last year but didn’t have the run I
was looking for. Could have had something to do with staying up late and the contest
being at 10 a.m.. Yes I would like to ride in some more contests. There is no reason
not to give it a shot. The only downside is they cost to much to enter.

So you were with the group of guys who hit up the downtown World's Fair Park
pond and waterfall last year. Tell me more...
I was lucky. That Moon cat somehow organized meeting up with the red bull dude, Tim,
and getting him and the winch for the afternoon. After some deliberation with the
security guards we strung the winch across and did some high intensity worlds fair
pond riding. We shredded the pond.

So you’re a student at The University Of Tennessee... What are you studying?
Word, I am a student. It rules I am never leaving college. I study what I want mainly
girls and drinking cold beers. Unfortunately that’s not true I am studying Business in
general. Still undecided.

Where are you working at and what do you do?
I work for a mortgage company, 21st Mortgage. I am in the tax department. We
research people’s property taxes and pay them if they are delinquent.

I hear you have some pretty crazy parties?
One of the best things that ever happened was moving into Jefferson Grand. The
complex is always down for a good party. My roommates and I have mastered
throwing some big parties. Its not fun cleaning up the next morning but looking back it
was worth it.

So your favorite trick is a backside 180... Someone must have spent a lot of time
and energy teaching you how to stick that trick huh? Anyone you want to thank?
Yea I finally was able to start sticking those. Floating the backside 180 and sticking it is
probably comparable to how I feel right after.................................

Well you came close many times last year landing a Whirlybird... Did you ever stick
it?
I am ashamed to say I only stuck it once. The rotation is there just need to slow it
down and get more comfortable on taking off.

Any new tricks or goals for the year?
Improving my overall riding from landings to grabs. I would like to learn a Tootsie Roll. I
don’t care what I learn as long as I can ride and don’t blow my knee out.

Rumor has it you are an official Wake Shop Team Rider! How did you team up with
those guys and what’s it like riding for Liquid Force?
I don’t really know how I met up with them. I guess it was cause Ryan had the only
true wakeboard shop in town and actually cared about the progression of the sport.
He was nice enough to give me a set up for a couple of years. After getting to know all
the people Ryan rides with I have met a lot of people and made some new friends. I
enjoy riding the Force the equipment is always good and durable. I would like to thank
everyone at ABC for their support of the Wakeshop and helping out with the sport as I
will do the same to help out as much as possible.

What Liquid Force setup are you rocking this year?
If possible, santa, I would like to ride the 137 Shane with his Black closed toe
bindings!! I never have rode closed toe. This year just wont be the same without the
collective develops!!!

So do you plan on hitting anymore trees this year while out riding?
I never anticipate or deliberately hit trees to be funny. Actually I saw this one tree…NO
I will never again…always look up!

Anyone you want to thank and why?
Yea I guess there are a few people. My parents for helping finance wakeboarding.
Ryan Jones for keeping it real. Chris Moon you are the most ballin kid on the block and
thanks for all the time you have put into progressing wakeboarding around K-town.
